Planning for Learning

I believe that planning for learning is for the teacher to be organized and prepared for her lessons and it also includes the teacher knowledge and understanding of the content with the use of effective strategies. it’s important because as teachers have to plan their lesson to have an effective lesson and to scaffold the students learning.

Plans

During teaching practice, I had created a long-term plan, mid-term plan, and short lesson plans. Making plans supported me to be organized and give me an idea about the next lessons or units that I am going to teach in the term..

Long Term Plan

During this semester, using the long-term plan had benefited me as a teacher as it could give all the stakeholders an understanding of the learning content for the term. For example, teachers would be able to arrange and organize a collection of activities that could be used during the term. Also, they can plan assessment methods and prepare a rubric that would help in assessing the students (Utah Education Network, 2003). Students could know what they will study, and they will have an idea of teachers anticipate from them. Parents can have knowledge about what their children are going to learn and what the teacher is going to cover during the term.

Mid-Term Plan

This mid-term plan helped me in having an idea about the unit subjects and objectives for the lessons and how many lessons will be taught in a week. In which, I can plan the lessons beforehand, and it helped in linking the objectives of the lessons together to make it easier for the students to learn and link the new information with the older information. This example of the mid-term plan.

 Unit Plan

This is an example of the unit plan that I did for the parents and the students for each unit that I taught in the second term. The benefit of this is that parents were able to know the key information for each unit and their children will study in that unit. Furthermore, students were able to have an idea about the topics that they will be learning in that unit. For me as a teacher using this plan made know the key vocabulary and grammar that I will teach the students about.

 Lesson Plan

This is an example of the lesson plan template that I use during teaching practice. Using it helped me to be prepared and organized for each lesson, from this lesson plan I learned to include the hidden curriculum and my expectations in every lesson. Moreover, writing the teaching strategies, the assessments methods, and the lesson phases gave an explicit idea about what I am going to do in the lesson.

Having a change in education is important, as we need to adapt to the changes that are happening around the world. Now, most countries use technology, and most jobs require a person who can think, communicate, create, and help the society in growing. The 21st-century education would help all learner around the world to be the independent person with knowledge. So, including these skills in the curriculum and the lesson is important to scaffold the students learning. Also, when I created the long term plan and the lesson plans I used the ministry teacher guide to know which 21st-century skills are included in the lesson.
